Kellen Investments Limited was formed in 2005 at the direction of TFCP Holdings Limited (Terra Firma Capital Partners) to fund the acquisition of the Phoenix Energy Holdings Group.
Terra Firma is a well established private equity fund manager founded by Guy Hands in 1994. It typically raises funds from large institutional investors such as insurance companies, endowments, charitable foundations and public and private pension funds.
Since being set up by Guy Hands in 1994, Terra Firma has invested approximately €14 billion of equity with its focus tending to be on the acquisition of asset-rich businesses, often with complex structural or regulatory issues..

Terra Firma has extensive experience of owning and operating both companies in the UK utilities sector (Angel Trains, Shanks & Waste Recycling) and consumer businesses (William Hill, Threashers & Thorn).
Phoenix Energy Holdings Group was formerly owned by East Surrey Holdings, a water and gas utility based in the South East of England.
